Once you have set up a connection to your database (MS Access, XML file, CSV file, ODBC, etc) then you need to select which fields from your database contain the information you want to display.
Picture field
With the Banner control, as a minimum you need to select database field contains your pictures. This database field can be either a binary field, which contains the actual picture information, or a text field which gives the location of the picture file to display.
Text location can be either local or Internet based. For example, you text location could be anything like:
c:\MyPictures\Picture1.png
\\MyServer\MyShare\MyPictures\Picture.png
http://www.MyWebsite.com/Picture.png
However, if could be that you only have the picture filename with your database field. For example 'Picture.png'. You can in this case use the 'Optional location prefix' box to enter the a prefix to add to the field name. For example, your prefix could be:
c:\MyPictures\
which added to a your pictures would make:
c:\MyPictures\Picture1.png
c:\MyPictures\Picture2.png
c:\MyPictures\Picture3.png
etc.
IMPORTANT NOTE - The binary database field option can be very slow to display with large images or a large number of records. Once displayed on screen, the playing speed with be the same as normal. You should minimize the amount of times you refresh the Banner control. In the designer, a resize of your Banner control will also trigger a refresh.
"BANNER 02" and "FADER 01" options
"FADER 01" is a high performance picture fader and doesn't allow a transition or optional text to be selected. If you have selected this then some of the drop down on this screen will be disabled. "FADER 01" allows the transitions and optional text:
Transitions
You have the option of selecting a transition from 'Transition to next slide' dropdown list and selecting a transition such as 'FADE' or 'CUBE ROTATE RIGHT'. This will then be applied to all records.
If you have set up your database specifically to use our Banner control (such as using one of our sample databases), you can select a field that contains our transition names. The text in this field must be one of our name. A list is included at the end of this help page.
Text line 1 (optional) and Text line 2 (optional)
With the Banner control you can display 1 or 2 lines of text next to each picture. If you want to display these, then select a field from the list.
Additional notes
Field names in drop down lists
Only appropriate fields names will be displayed in the drop down lists. For example, the picture field combo box will just display binary or text fields. The text line boxes will only display text fields from your database. All other fields, such as dates, numbers, etc, are ignored.
Blank or missing pictures in records
When playing, any database record that doesn't have a valid picture will be excluded.
