Repeat Signage digital signage software

System settings - Player tab

Please note that in public areas people should not have access to the keyboard or mouse of your Repeat Signage player computer.  The computer should be locked away.  On screens that have the player computers integrated (such as Samsung digital signage screens) or ones with players on the back on screens, you should make sure that USB ports are not accessible for connection keyboards and mice.

The settings will not stop users from using the Ctrl+Alt+Del keyboard combination to log off or shut down the computer.  These settings are designed stop accidental closing of the Repeat Signage software, or accidental pressing of keys that would show the Windows desktop or other applications.  When Repeat Signage Player is running,

You can set a password on the passwords tab to stop Repeat Signage being closed without a password.

In some situations, Repeat Signage run from a computer with dual monitors that is not dedicated for display digital signage.  For example, a computer in a reception area where one screen is used for the work of the receptionist and the other is displaying a Repeat Signage presentation file to customers/visitors.  Most of the options below are more advisable for dedicated digital signage computers.

Options

Disable screen saver and power management - This stops the Windows screen saver from displaying and stops the Windows Power Management settings from turning off the monitor whilst the presentation is playing.  However, if running on a notebook computer on battery power, then the Power Management is re-enabled automatically if you have less that 15 minutes of power, so that the machine can suspend correctly.

Keep player on top of other applications -
This makes sure that if another application pops-up, that Repeat Signage keeps making itself the top program.

Remove Windows start bar when running
-  Repeat Signage will automatically cover the entire screen.  In some instances, the Windows Task Bar will appear on top of the running player.  You can use this option to hide the Windows Start Bar.  However, don't use this option unless you need to.  A better way is to set the Windows Taskbar to automatically hide itself. To do this, then right mouse click the Windows Start Button or Start Orb and choose Properties. Then click on the 'Taskbar' tab and put a tick in 'Auto-hide the taskbar' and click on the 'Apply' button.

Disable Internet Explorer web browser refresh noise - Repeat Signage uses Internet Explorer to display website pages.  Internet Explorer has a refresh/navigate sound that is played on refreshing a page or navigating to a new page.  Repeat Signage inherits the same noise.  If you want to disable this noise whilst using Repeat Signage, then you need to put a tick in the 'Disable Internet Explorer web browser refresh noise' tick box and save.  This means that Repeat Signage and Internet Explorer will not play this noise whilst Repeat Signage is loaded.

Monitor playing presentations and playlists and auto refresh if changed (Standard and above editions only) - If you are using Repeat Signage on a network, you may put presentations on a network drive.  You may have a computer with Repeat Signage displaying a presentation on a plasma screen in the reception area.  If the reception area computer plays it's presentation from a network drive, then that presentation could be updated by someone else on the same network, for example, by some in the IT Department.  On the reception computer, putting a tick in the 'Monitor playing presentations and playlists and auto refresh if changed' tick box on that copy of Repeat Signage's settings, will get the reception computer to monitor it's presentation on the network drive.  This means that if the IT Department update the presentation, then the reception computer automatically loads the new presentation and displays it.  The frequency the reception computer checks for an updated presentation is determined by the time specified in 'Check for updated presentations or playlists' boxes.

Timed refresh of playing presentations (Standard and above editions only) - Instead of monitoring for when presentations change, you can set presentations to automatically refresh after a specified time.

Daily full system refresh for 24/7 displays - If your digital signage display is going to be on 24 hours a day, then if ticked this will completely refresh the playing software once a day, by default at midnight.  This will ensure that Repeat Signage remains stable when playing for weeks at a time.  You can change the default time from midnight to another time if required.

If you want your player computer to shutdown at a certain time each evening, then enable the 'Daily full system refresh for 24/7 displays' check box and then also tick the 'Shutdown computer instead' check box.

Hide loading presentation bar - When you play a presentation, you will see a black bar at the bottom of the screen that says 'Loading presentation'.  Also, if you schedule presentations with a play list, then a presentation changes, then it says 'Changing presentation'.  If you tick this hide box, then you won't see this.  If you combine also use the 'Load background colour or picture' section and specify your own picture, then you can display your own message when a presentation loads.

Automatic restart if error encountered - This is not enabled by default and is designed as a temporary option whilst our support people are fixing an error you may have reported.   This can be useful if you system gets a regular or intermittent error after playing for a period of time.  An example may be an 'out of memory' error that occurs on a system with small amount of RAM memory installed and a memory intensive presentation (with lots of videos, etc) that may exceed memory limits after been played for several hours.

NOTE ON BROWSER REFRESH NOISE - Repeat Signage uses Internet Explorer to display website pages.  Internet Explorer has a refresh/navigate sound that is played on refreshing a page or navigating to a new page.  Repeat Signage inherits the same noise.  If you want to disable this noise whilst using Repeat Signage, then you need to open System Settings from the main screen and go to the Player tab.  Put a tick in the 'Disable Internet Explorer web browser refresh noise' tick box and save.  This means that Repeat Signage and Internet Explorer will not play this noise whilst Repeat Signage is loaded.

Load background colour or picture - Click on the 'Choose' button to choose a background colour when presentations are loading.  This can be either a solid colour, a gradient colour (two different colour fading into each other) or a colour with patterns.  You can also use put a tick in the 'Use an image instead of a solid font colour' tick box and then browse for a picture file to use as a background to your presentation.

PowerPoint scheduler control known issues

When a PowerPoint presentation is launched, then sometimes the user can see the Windows Taskbar displayed for a split second as Repeat Signage loses focus.  The best way to stop this happening on player computers is to set the Windows Taskbar to automatically hide itself.  To do this, then right mouse click the Windows Start Button or Start Orb and choose Properties.  Then click on the 'Taskbar' tab and put a tick in 'Auto-hide the taskbar' and click on the 'Apply' button.
